The Department of Microbiology at the Government Medical College Hospital (GMCH), Sector-32, Chandigarh, invites applications for positions on a purely contract basis. These openings are part of a National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) funded project titled “National One Health Programme for Prevention and Control of Zoonotic Diseases (NOHPCZ).”
Positions Available:
1. Data Entry Operator
- Pay: Rs. 20,000/- per month (consolidated)
- Essential Qualification:
- Graduate from a Government recognized institution.
- 1-year Diploma course in computer application.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in Data management.
- Age Limit: Not more than 40 years.
- Number of Posts: 01
2. Laboratory Technician
- Pay: Rs. 30,000/- per month (consolidated)
- Essential Qualification:
- Graduate in Medical Laboratory Technology from a recognized University/Institute/Hospital, OR
- Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) with at least a 2-year duration from a recognized University, OR
- Diploma/Certificate in Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) with at least a 1-year duration from a recognized University.
- Desirable:
- 1-year experience for those with a 2-year diploma in MLT from recognized hospitals/institutes.
- 2 years’ experience for those with a 1-year diploma in MLT from recognized hospitals/institutes.
- 1 year of experience for graduates in Science from recognized hospitals/institutes.
- Preference for candidates with work experience in “Quality assured Laboratory.”
- Age Limit: Not more than 40 years.

Application Process:
Interested candidates must submit their application (Hard copy) and bio-data by 26th February 2024, up to 5 pm, to the Department of Microbiology, Room No. 231, E-block, Level-2, GMCH, Sector-32, Chandigarh. Applications received after the due date or incomplete applications will not be considered. Ensure to include a recent passport size color photograph and self-attested photocopies of relevant documents (Date of Birth, Educational/Professional qualification, Experience Certificate, NOC if applicable).
Selection Process:
Shortlisted candidates will be called for a Written Test/Interview. The list of eligible candidates and details of the interview/written test (date and time) will be displayed on the institute’s website: www.gmch.gov.in.
Important Notes:
- The appointment is on a contract basis till the continuation of the project, with the appointment being terminable with one month’s notice from either side.
- No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview/written examination.
- This is a temporary project position with no claim for regular appointment under NCDC or any other project benefits.
