About APEDA
The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) is an autonomous organization under the Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. APEDA is responsible for promoting the export of agricultural and processed food products from India and plays a key role in improving quality, market access, and competitiveness of Indian produce in the international market.
To strengthen agricultural export development, APEDA invites applications from talented, innovative, and dynamic professionals for engagement as Business Development Managers (on contract) at various locations.

Positions and Locations
Applications are invited for the position of Business Development Manager (On Contract) at the following locations:
- Ahmedabad – 1 post (Grade-I)
- Raipur – 1 post (Grade-I)
- Dehradun – 1 post (Grade-I)
- Varanasi – 1 post (Grade-I)
- Chandigarh – 3 posts (Grade-I)
- New Delhi – 1 post (Grade-II)
APEDA reserves the right to increase or decrease the number of vacancies as per requirement.

Educational Qualification
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines:
Agriculture, Horticulture, Veterinary Science, Plantation, Food Processing, Foreign Trade, or Public Policy.

Experience Requirement
For Grade-I, candidates should have a minimum of one year of relevant experience in the related field.
For Grade-II, no prior experience requirement has been specified.

Scope of Work
The Business Development Managers will work closely with state and central agencies to promote agricultural exports from their respective regions. The main responsibilities include:
- Conducting market analysis and identifying crops and commodities with high export potential.
- Exploring new international markets and increasing India’s share in traditional ones.
- Promoting value-added, organic, and GI-tagged products.
- Supporting farmers and processors to produce export-quality goods.
- Strengthening backend and frontend infrastructure to boost exports.
- Developing strategies for long-term growth of agricultural and allied product exports.
- Promoting districts as export hubs and increasing the region’s contribution to India’s overall export basket.

Type and Tenure of Engagement
The engagement will be purely on a contractual basis, initially for one year, including a probation period of three weeks.
It may be extended on a yearly basis depending on performance, but the total tenure will not exceed three years under any circumstances.

Age Limit and Salary
For Business Development Manager (Grade-I):
- Candidates with 1 year of experience should be below 32 years of age and will receive ₹50,000 per month.
- Candidates with 2 years of experience should be below 34 years of age and will receive ₹55,000 per month.
- Candidates with 3 or more years of experience should be below 35 years of age and will receive ₹60,000 per month.
For Business Development Manager (Grade-II):
- Maximum age limit is 30 years.
- Monthly remuneration will be ₹35,400 (inclusive of all taxes).
No additional allowances or benefits will be provided. TA/DA will be admissible as per Central Government Pay Levels when on official tour.

Working Hours and Leave Policy
Working hours will be from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM during working days. In exceptional circumstances, candidates may be required to work beyond normal hours, including weekends or holidays.
Each Business Development Manager will be entitled to 20 days of leave per year, calculated on a pro-rata basis. Unused leave cannot be carried forward. Female employees will be eligible for maternity leave as per the Maternity Benefit (Amendment) Act, 2017.

Termination Clause
Either party may terminate the contract with 30 days’ written notice or payment in lieu of notice. APEDA reserves the right to terminate the engagement immediately for unsatisfactory performance, misconduct, or violation of terms.

- Engagement is subject to verification of documents, police verification, and medical fitness.
- The appointment does not confer any right for future employment in APEDA or any other government body.
- Candidates must maintain confidentiality under the Official Secrets Act, 1923.
- False information or breach of conduct will result in immediate termination.
- Selected candidates must demonstrate integrity, dedication, and high professional ethics.
