Essential Qualifications & Experience
Senior Resident / CMO (General Medicine & General Surgery) / Resident Anaesthetist / Resident Pathologist
- MD/MS/DNB/M.Ch./DM or equivalent in the concerned specialty (recognized by MCI) and registered with MCI/NMC or State Medical Council.
- Not eligible if completed 3 years Senior Residency already.
Demonstrator / Medical Officer / EMO / LMO
- MBBS (PG diploma/degree holders preferred), OR M.Sc. (Medical) in the concerned specialty for non-medical Demonstrator from a recognized Medical Institute/Faculty.
- In Anatomy, Biochemistry & Physiology, non-medical teachers may be appointed up to 15% of total posts if medical teachers are unavailable.
Junior Resident (MBBS & BDS)
- MBBS/BDS, registered with State Medical Council/MCI/NMC/DCI.
- Internship: The candidate who has already completed / likely to complete one-year rotatory internship by 31/12/2025 is eligible.
- Not eligible if one-year JR already completed in the past.

Tenure
- SR/CMO/Resident Anaesthetist/Resident Pathologist: Up to 3 years (including previous experience in a teaching institution) from date of joining; performance-linked; no extension beyond 3 years.

Pay & Allowances (7th CPC)
- SR / Resident Anaesthetist / Resident Pathologist / CMO (GM & GS): ₹67,700 (Level-11, Cell-1) + NPA @ 20% + admissible allowances.
- Demonstrator: ₹53,100 (Level-9, Cell-1) + admissible allowances.
- EMO / MO / LMO: ₹56,100 (Level-10, Cell-1) + admissible allowances.
- JR (MBBS & BDS): ₹56,100 (Level-10, Cell-1) + admissible allowances.

- SC: ₹500 + bank charges (if any)
- All other categories: ₹1,000 + bank charges (if any)
- Exempted: PwD candidates and candidates sponsored by Regional Employment Exchange (REE), UT Chandigarh

Reservation / OBC–SEBC Policy (UT Chandigarh)
Reservation/age-relaxation apply only against posts earmarked for that category, as per Chandigarh Administration instructions.
SC/OBC candidates applying for UR posts are not entitled to relaxations.
OBC/SEBC benefit (per DoPT OM 28.03.2024; UT DoP letter 04.09.2024):
Candidate and parents must actually belong to the claimed community.
Community must be in Central OBC list for UT Chandigarh or BC list of UT Social Welfare Department (by notification/order).
Candidate should belong to UT Chandigarh.
Migration cases: Benefit generally remains tied to State/UT of origin if the caste is not in UT Chandigarh lists; UT may issue certificate on production of a genuine certificate of father’s origin, subject to verification.
Social Welfare Dept. Memo (07.08.2025): Extension of Haryana Backward Classes Act, 2016 to UT Chandigarh for 27% OBC reservation (read with Hon’ble Supreme Court judgment dated 30.07.2025).
EWS: If EWS seats remain vacant, shift to General category due to patient-care service.

Selection Process
- Single written test for PG candidates applying across multiple SR departments in the same PG specialty; one merit considered across all chosen departments.
- Common merit list for MBBS pool (Demonstrator/MO/LMO/EMO/JR-MBBS) and separate for BDS (JR-BDS).
- Shortlisted candidates (as per merit) will be called for interview.
- Document verification at interview: All originals + one set of self-attested copies; NOC mandatory if serving in Govt/Semi-Govt/PSU/Autonomous body, else not allowed to appear.
- e-Admit Cards and the provisional eligibility list will be hosted on www.gmch.gov.in (no postal dispatch).

- Candidature is provisional and subject to verification. Overage/ineligible candidates will be rejected and not called for interview.
- Department may increase/decrease posts or withdraw vacancies without notice; no fee refund in such cases.
- MBBS-qualified applicants for Demonstrator/MO/LMO/EMO/JR need not select departments in the form; a common merit list will be prepared and specialty choice (if available) taken at interview.
- Persons previously dispensed with by GMCH on account of misconduct/otherwise are not eligible.
- TA/DA not admissible for tests/interviews.
- Exam center: Chandigarh only.
