Nationality
Indian citizen or as per rules for Nepal/Bhutan/PIO/Tibetan refugee categories (certificate of eligibility where applicable).
Age (as on 01.01.2026)
- 20–33 years (UR/EWS).
- DOB window: UR/EWS not earlier than 02.01.1993; OBC-NCL 02.01.1990; SC/ST 02.01.1988; not later than 01.01.2006 for all.
- Relaxations: OBC-NCL: +3 yrs; SC/ST: +5 yrs; PwBD (UR/EWS): +10 yrs, OBC-NCL: +13 yrs, SC/ST: +15 yrs; other relaxations for ExSM, Railway staff, widows/divorced/judicially separated women, Quasi-admin offices, etc., as per notice.
Educational Qualification
- Graduate Degree (any discipline) from a recognized University as on 14.10.2025.
- Awaiting results are NOT eligible.
Medical Standards (A-2 – Mandatory)
- Distant Vision: 6/9, 6/9 without glasses (no fogging test)
- Near Vision: Sn 0.6, 0.6 without glasses
- Must pass Color Vision, Binocular Vision, Night Vision & Myopic vision tests.
- LASIK/other corrective eye surgery: Not eligible for A-2.
Candidates failing A-2 medical will not get alternate appointment.

Reservation & Certificates
- Vertical: SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS as per vacancy table and rules.
- Horizontal: Ex-Servicemen and PwBD (suitability only OA/OL).
- OBC-NCL: Certificate in prescribed format dated on/after 01.04.2025 and on/before closing date, plus self-declaration (Annexure II & IIA). Must be in Central List (ncbc.nic.in). Creamy layer not eligible for OBC reservation.
- EWS: Family income < ₹8 lakh (FY 2024–25) and property criteria; certificate in Annexure-III required at DV.
- EBC (fee concession only): Family income < ₹50,000; valid proof per Annexure-IV.
- SC/ST: Prescribed format (Annexure-I).
- ExSM: Definitions/eligibility as per notice; certificates per Annexure-VII/VII(A).
- Community/category status as on closing date only; no change later.

Single Stage CBT (Screening)
Duration: 120 minutes
Questions: 100 (objective, MCQ)

Qualifying (category-wise minimum %): UR/EWS 40, OBC-NCL 30, SC 30, ST 25 (PwBD may get relaxation of up to 2 marks if shortfall)
Languages: English, Hindi + 13 regional (Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Konkani, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu)
CBT Syllabus (indicative):
Mathematics/DAI: Number System, Ratio-Proportion, Average, Percentage, Profit-Loss, Time-Speed-Distance, Work, Algebra/Linear Equations, AP, LCM/HCF, Geometry/Area/Volume, Basic Probability & Statistics; multi-source Data Analysis & Interpretation (tables/charts/graphs/venn), Data Sufficiency/Arrangement.
Logical Reasoning: Binary Logic, Syllogism, Clocks/Calendars, Assumptions, Blood Relations/Family Tree, Logic puzzles.
Reading Comprehension: Passages from History/Society/Literature/Science/Environment/Abstract/Mythology/Technology/Culture—questions on Main Idea, Supporting Idea, Application, Logical Structure, Style.
Mental Reasoning: Analogy, Series, Coding-Decoding, Ranking/Arrangement.
Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT)
Shortlisting to ~8x vacancies per community based on CBT merit.
Medium: English & Hindi. No negative marking.
Qualifying: Minimum T-Score 42 in each test battery (no relaxations).
Final Merit (only among CBAT-qualified): 70% CBT + 30% CBAT (RRB-wise), then DV & Medical.
Document Verification (DV) & Medical Examination
1:1 as per RRB-wise vacancies; tie-breakers: higher age, then alphabetical order of name (A→Z).
Appointment by Zonal Railways after all verifications and A-2 medical fitness.

Application & Fee
- Apply Online: Only via official RRB websites (one application to one RRB only). Multiple RRBs → rejection & debarment.
- Create Account: Use existing RRB account if created earlier; no changes allowed later (mobile/email/Name/DOB must match 10th certificate).
- Identity Authentication (advisory): Prefer DigiLocker/Aadhaar verification; alternate ID → stricter scrutiny.
- Live Photograph: Captured during application via webcam/phone (no spectacles/cap/mask; non-white clothing; face centered; don’t upload old photo).
- Signature Upload: Black ink on white paper; running handwriting (not BLOCK/CAPS); JPG/JPEG, 30–49 KB; precise box size; mismatch/blur/block letters → rejection.
- Mandatory Uploads: Signature; SC/ST certificate PDF only if availing free travel pass.
- Exam Cities: Allotted per feasibility; may be outside state; no change permitted.
- Banned items: All electronics, watches, papers, food, etc. Pen provided at centre; avoid henna (biometrics).
- Free Travel: SC/ST candidates (Sleeper Class) if opted and certificate uploaded; must carry original ID & caste certificate during travel.
Exam Fee (online only):
- ₹500 for all (except categories below). Refund ₹400 (minus bank charges) on appearing in CBT.
- ₹250 for Female/Transgender/ExSM/SC/ST/Minority/EBC/PwBD. Refund ₹250 (minus charges) on appearing in CBT.
- Candidate must enter correct bank details for refund in the application. No refund for rejected/incomplete/wrong bank details.
Modification Window: 17.10.2025–26.10.2025
- Changes allowed except: Create-Account details & Chosen RRB (these cannot be changed).
- Fee: ₹250 per modification (+ any differential exam fee if changing category affecting fee).

PwBD & Scribe
- Post is suitable only for LD (OA/OL); not suitable for VI/HI/MD/OD.
- Scribe facility as per rules; scribe must register at rrbapply.gov.in (OTR number).
- Eligible candidates must opt for scribe in application and furnish scribe OTR in the dedicated window after the modification period.
- 20 minutes/hour compensatory time for eligible candidates (with or without scribe as per rules).

- One RRB only; candidature provisional till DV/ME.
- Zone Allotment: Post-selection, Zone allotment as per options + merit + medical + vacancies; RRB may allot another Zone in administrative interest.
- Service Conditions: Training with stipend; surety/indemnity bond where applicable; transfers as per Railway exigencies; inter-Railway transfer usually restricted for initial 5–10 years.
- Unfair Means: Strict action under The Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024—lifetime debarment & legal consequences.

How to Apply (Step-by-Step)
- Visit your chosen RRB’s official website → Section Controller CEN 04/2025 link.
- Create an Account (or login if you already have one from earlier RRB CENs). Enter details carefully—no correction later for Create-Account fields.
- Prefer Aadhaar/DigiLocker verification (recommended).
- Fill application form, choose exam language, give Zone preferences under the chosen RRB, and upload signature (and SC/ST certificate only if availing free travel).
- Live-capture your photo in the form (follow framing & attire rules).
- Pay fee online (Net banking/UPI/cards). Enter bank details for fee refund.
- Submit. Download/Save the acknowledgement.
- If needed, use Modification Window (17–26 Oct 2025) with ₹250 per change (except Create-Account details & Chosen RRB).
