About the Recruitment
The National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) invites online applications from Indian nationals for engagement as Stenographers and Private Secretaries (PS) purely on a contractual basis. The appointments will be made in various NCLT Benches across India.
This opportunity is open to both experienced professionals and eligible retired government servants who meet the prescribed criteria.

Vacancies – Bench-wise Distribution
A total of 32 vacancies are available, comprising 14 posts of Private Secretaries and 18 posts of Stenographers. The distribution of vacancies by city is as follows:
- Bengaluru: 1 Private Secretary and 1 Stenographer.
- Indore: 1 Private Secretary and 2 Stenographers.
- Cuttack: 1 Private Secretary and 1 Stenographer.
- Amaravati (Andhra Pradesh): 1 Stenographer.
- Guwahati: 3 Stenographers.
- Chandigarh: 2 Private Secretaries and 1 Stenographer.
- Chennai: 3 Private Secretaries and 2 Stenographers.
- Mumbai: 2 Private Secretaries and 4 Stenographers.
- New Delhi: 3 Private Secretaries.
- Kolkata: 1 Private Secretary and 2 Stenographers.
- Jaipur: 1 Stenographer.

Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
- Graduate in any discipline from a recognized University.
Skill Requirements
- Shorthand Dictation in English at a speed of 100 words per minute.
- Transcription on computer at a speed of 50 words per minute.
Age Limit
- For Stenographers: Minimum 25 years as on 08 September 2025.
- For Private Secretaries: Minimum 28 years as on 08 September 2025.
Experience
- For Private Secretaries: At least 3 years’ experience as a Stenographer with the required shorthand and transcription skills. Additionally, relevant experience in liaisoning and coordination with reputed offices is required.
- Retired Government Servants: Eligible to apply if they meet the required skills and qualifications. The maximum age is 62 years as on 08 September 2025, with automatic disengagement at 65 years.

Remuneration
- Stenographer: ₹45,000 per month.
- Private Secretary: ₹50,000 per month.
No additional allowances such as HRA, DA, or accommodation will be admissible.

Selection Process
- Skill Test in English shorthand and transcription on computer.
- Interview for candidates who qualify in the skill test.
No TA/DA will be provided for attending the test or interview.

Contractual Terms and Conditions
- The contract will be initially for one year and may be extended up to three years based on satisfactory performance.
- The engagement can be terminated at any time by the Tribunal without assigning any reason. Candidates may also resign by giving one month’s notice.
- No allowances such as HRA, DA, or official accommodation will be provided. Only 8 days of casual leave per year (on a pro-rata basis) will be allowed.
- The working days and hours will be the same as applicable to regular NCLT staff. Candidates may have to work beyond office hours if required by the Member to whom they are attached.
- Candidates must maintain complete secrecy and confidentiality regarding all official matters.
- No other employment or assignment will be permitted during the contractual period.
- Permission from the Hon’ble President or concerned Member is required to leave headquarters.
- Punctuality and discipline are mandatory.
- Candidates may be temporarily posted to other NCLT Benches if required.
- Integrity, honesty, and good moral character are essential. Candidates must provide certificates of good conduct from two responsible persons at the time of joining.
- There is no claim for regularization under any circumstances.
- Candidates must sign an undertaking agreeing to all terms and conditions of the contract.
- The Tribunal reserves the right to amend, cancel, or modify the notification at any stage.
