Notification Overview: The Indian Air Force (IAF) has released a notification for the Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT 01/2024). This includes positions in Flying Branch and Ground Duty (Technical and Non-Technical) Branches, as well as NCC Special Entry, for courses commencing in January 2025. The online application period is from 1st December 2023 to 30th December 2023.

Type of Commission: The IAF is offering Short Service Commission (SSC) for both men and women. For the Flying Branch, the engagement period is 14 years, and for Ground Duty, it is initially 10 years, extendable by another 4 years. The possibility of a Permanent Commission (PC) will be considered later based on various factors.
Eligibility Conditions:
- Nationality: Candidate must be a citizen of India.
- Age Limit: Varies from 20 to 24 years for Flying Branch and 20 to 26 years for Ground Duty. There are age relaxations under specific conditions.
- Marital Status: Candidates must be unmarried.
- Educational Qualifications: Varies for different branches but generally includes a minimum requirement in Maths and Physics at 10+2 level and graduation with specified percentage criteria.
Physical and Medical Standards: Candidates must meet the physical and medical standards as detailed in the Appendix ‘A’ of the notification.
Application Process: Aspirants must apply online through the official IAF career website. An Aadhaar card is mandatory for online registration.
AFCAT Examination: The online AFCAT exam is scheduled for 16th, 17th, and 18th February 2024. It will include subjects like General Awareness, Verbal Ability in English, Numerical Ability, and Reasoning and Military Aptitude Test. The total duration is 2 hours with a maximum of 300 marks for 100 questions.
Air Force Selection Board (AFSB): Candidates qualifying in the AFCAT will be called for AFSB testing at one of the AFSB centres. The centres are located in Dehradun, Mysuru, Gandhinagar, Varanasi, and Guwahati.
