Role and Responsibilities:
The appointed Chair Professor will be responsible for:
- Initiating, planning, implementing, and following up on research activities exclusively in the area of IPR law and policy in collaboration with national and international stakeholders, including law firms, corporate houses, government departments, public sector undertakings, and funding agencies.
- Planning and conducting training and extension activities, such as workshops, seminars, and round-table conferences.
- Providing inputs to the legislature, executive, and judiciary on the latest trends and developments in IPR law and policy.
- Assisting in IPR law and policy-related activities of DPIIT.
- Contributing towards ensuring that Panjab University, Chandigarh achieves knowledge and research excellence worldwide in IPR law and policy.
- Reporting annually and periodically to DPIIT and the University on programs and activities, indicators of achievement, and results obtained under the Chair.
- Undertaking survey studies and research projects as required.

Essential Criteria:
Candidates must fulfill the following criteria:
- Academic/Scholar up to the rank of Professor with an outstanding track record in IPR and aligned areas of study, OR
- Retired Officials of IP Offices with at least 5 years of experience as Controller of Patent & Design, Registrar of Trademark & Geographical Indications, or Registrar of Copyrights.
- Good knowledge of national and international research trends and developments in IPR.
- Outstanding professionals with an established reputation in the field of IPR, with significant contributions to knowledge in the field (to be substantiated by credentials).
- Age limit: Individuals up to 69 years are eligible to apply.

Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience in teaching/research in premier law universities/colleges in the relevant area.
- Proven ability to innovate and improve research, training, and extension activities.
- Ability to pursue new ideas and methods in the field of IPR.
