Important Dates

Vacancies and Reservation
A total of 25 vacancies are available for the post of Assistant in Level-4 of the 7th CPC Pay Matrix (₹25,500 – ₹81,100). Reservation details are as follows:
- Unreserved (UR) – 11
- Economically Weaker Section (EWS) – 2
- Other Backward Classes (OBC) – 6
- Scheduled Caste (SC) – 6
- Scheduled Tribe (ST) – 0
- Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBDs - Blindness/Low Vision) – 1
- Ex-Servicemen (ESM) – 1
Backlog reserved vacancies of earlier years are also included in this recruitment. The Government encourages gender balance, and women candidates are advised to apply.

Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
A candidate must be a graduate in any discipline from a recognized university and must have proficiency in the use of computers.
Experience in an educational/research institute or government office is desirable but not mandatory. Degrees obtained through Open and Distance Learning must be recognized by the UGC’s Distance Education Bureau at the time of acquiring the qualification.
Age Limit (as of the closing date of application submission)
The maximum age limit is 25 years. However, age relaxation is applicable as follows:
- SC/ST – 5 years
- OBC – 3 years
- PwBD (Unreserved) – 10 years
- PwBD (OBC) – 13 years
- PwBD (SC/ST) – 15 years
- Ex-Servicemen (ESM) – 3 years after deduction of military service from actual age
- Employees of Autonomous Societies under MeitY/DOS/DRDO/DAE – 5 years
- Central Government Employees with at least 3 years of regular service – Up to 40 years (UR) and 45 years (SC/ST)

Application Fee
The application fee is ₹800 + 18% GST (₹944) for UR/EWS/OBC candidates.
For Women/SC/ST/ESM/PwBD candidates, the fee is ₹400 + 18% GST (₹472).
Candidates can pay the fee online up to 28th February 2025 (11:59 PM). The fee is non-refundable.

Salary and Benefits
The appointed candidates will receive a basic pay of ₹25,500/- per month under Level-4 of the 7th CPC Pay Matrix (₹25,500 – ₹81,100). Additional benefits include:

The initial posting will be at SCL, S.A.S. Nagar, Punjab, but candidates may be transferred anywhere in India as per requirement.

Selection Process
The selection will be based on a written examination held at two centers: New Delhi and Chandigarh/Mohali/Panchkula.
Candidates must secure the minimum qualifying marks to be considered for final selection. The merit list will be prepared based on written test performance.
In case of a tie in marks, the following criteria will be used to determine ranking:
- Higher marks in Part A
- Higher marks in Graduation
- Older candidate (by Date of Birth)
- Alphabetical order of names
If the exam is conducted in multiple shifts, normalization of marks will be applied to ensure fairness.

Exam Pattern
The written examination will consist of 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) divided into two parts. The duration of the exam will be 2 hours (2 hours 40 minutes for PwBD candidates eligible for scribe).
Part A (40 Marks)
- Quantitative Aptitude – 20 Questions
- Basic Knowledge of Computers – 20 Questions
Part B (60 Marks)
- General Intelligence & Reasoning Ability – 20 Questions
- English Comprehension – 20 Questions
- General Knowledge & Current Affairs – 20 Questions
Each correct answer carries +1 mark, and 0.25 marks will be deducted for every wrong answer. The exam will be conducted in both English and Hindi, except for the English Comprehension section.
Qualifying Marks
- UR Candidates – 40% in each part and 50% overall
- OBC/EWS Candidates – 5% relaxation
- SC/ST Candidates – 10% relaxation
The tentative answer key will be published on the SCL website within 3 working days of the exam. Candidates can raise objections within 5 days by paying ₹100 per question (non-refundable).

How to Apply
Eligible candidates must apply online only via the SCL website (www.scl.gov.in/career.html) from 27th January 2025 to 26th February 2025.
Applicants must register using their full name, date of birth, valid email ID, and mobile number. After successful submission, a unique registration number will be generated and sent via SMS/Email.
Candidates must upload scanned copies of:
- Recent passport-size photograph (not older than 3 months)
- Signature
- Left thumb impression
- Computer proficiency certificate (unless having a degree in Computers)
The Admit Card will be available for download from the SCL website at least 7 days before the exam. The exact exam center address will be provided 2 days before the exam.

Document Verification
Candidates shortlisted after the written exam must appear for document verification. They must bring original certificates along with self-attested copies for:
- Matriculation certificate (for age proof)
- Graduation degree
- Computer proficiency certificate
- Caste/EWS/PwBD certificate (if applicable)
- No Objection Certificate (for government employees)
- Ex-Servicemen-related documents (if applicable)
Failure to provide the required documents may lead to cancellation of candidature.
