Position Details

Investigation Expert (Consultant)
Tentative Number of Positions:
1 (One)
Period of Engagement:
- The initial appointment is for 1 year.
- Extension possible up to 5 years or until the age of 65 years, whichever is earlier.
Location of Posting:
NIA Branch Office, Chandigarh.
Remuneration:
- As per Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) guidelines dated 09-12-2020:
Remuneration = Last pay drawn - Basic pension.
- No additional allowances such as HRA, DA, etc. will be applicable.
- TA/DA will be admissible for official tours.

Eligibility Criteria
Age Limit:
Below 65 years.
Educational Qualification:
Graduation in any discipline is required.
Work Experience:
- Minimum 10 years of experience in handling criminal investigations, intelligence work, or counter-terrorism.
Eligible Ranks and Departments:
Retired officers holding the ranks of Inspector, Dy. SP, Addl. SP, SP, or equivalent in the following organizations:
- Central Police Organizations: NIA, CBI, NCB, IB, Cabinet Secretariat, CAPF, NTRO, etc.
- State Police Forces and specialized agencies like Income Tax, Customs, and DRI.

Nature of Duties
The consultant will provide consultancy and support services in various investigative and operational areas, including but not limited to:
- Improving investigative skills for quality investigations.
- Supporting the collection of intelligence.
- Providing advice on legal matters, including evidence gathering and new case laws.
- Drafting and reviewing legal documents.
- Managing criminal case records and advising on case handling.
- Investigating financial transactions and money laundering.
- Leveraging the latest technical tools for investigative purposes.
- Conducting analysis of CDR, IPDR data, and advising on advanced methods of evidence collection.
- Any additional duties assigned by the controlling officer.

Working Conditions
Office Timing:
- 09:30 AM to 06:00 PM, Monday to Friday.
- Includes a 30-minute lunch break.
Extra Working Hours:
- May be required to work on weekends, holidays, or beyond office hours as needed, without extra remuneration.
Leave Policy:
- Entitled to 1.5 days of leave per completed month of service.
- No additional leaves or carry-over allowed.
- Leave beyond the permissible limit will result in deduction of remuneration.

Termination of Engagement
Automatic Termination:
- The engagement will terminate at the end of the term unless extended.
Premature Termination:
- Either party can terminate the contract with 15 days’ notice.
- Grounds for termination include:
- Inability to perform assigned tasks.
- Substandard work quality.
- Misconduct or dishonesty.
- Failure to achieve set targets.
Compensation on Termination:
- In case of premature termination, remuneration equivalent to 15 days’ pay will be provided.
