Department of Virology - Recruitment Notice
PGIMER is inviting applications to fill the following posts on a contractual basis for “Sentinel Surveillance sites under National One Health Programme for Prevention and Control of Zoonoses (NOHPPCZ)”. These posts are based in the Department of Virology, funded by the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), New Delhi, Government of India.

1. Laboratory Technician
- No. of Post: 1 (UR)
- Emoluments: ₹30,000/- (consolidated) per month
- Age Limit: Up to 30 years (age relaxation will be provided as per Government of India rules)
Eligibility Criteria:
Essential Qualification:
- B.Sc. in Medical Lab Technology OR
- B.Sc. with a Diploma in Medical Lab Technology from a recognized university/institute/board.
Desirable Qualification:
- Experience in virology or microbiology laboratories.
- Experience in drawing blood samples from patients.
Selection Process:
- Written Test: The selection will be based on a written examination with a minimum qualifying mark of 40%.
- Interview: Top five qualified candidates from the written exam will be called for an interview.

2. Data Entry Operator (DEO)
- No. of Post: 1 (UR)
- Emoluments: ₹20,000/- (consolidated) per month
- Age Limit: Up to 30 years (age relaxation will be provided as per Government of India rules)
Eligibility Criteria:
- Essential Qualification:
- Graduation in any discipline from a recognized university.
- Proficiency in data entry with a speed of 8000 key depressions per hour.
Selection Process:
- Written Test: Candidates must score a minimum of 40% to qualify.
- Typing Test: Top 15 candidates from the written exam will undergo a speed test to assess typing speed.

Application Procedure:
How to Apply:
- The application form can be downloaded from the PGIMER website (www.pgimer.edu.in).
- Candidates must submit the filled application form along with self-attested copies of certificates (age, qualification, experience, category if applicable).
- Applications must be submitted to the office of the Department of Virology, Room No. 608, Research Block-A, PGIMER, Chandigarh before the deadline.
Documents Required:
- Two recent passport-size photographs.
- Educational certificates.
- Experience certificates.
- No Objection Certificate (if employed).
- Category certificate (if applicable).

Terms & Conditions:
- Contract Duration: Initially for 3 months, extendable until March 31, 2025, based on satisfactory performance.
- Expiry of Contract: The contract will automatically terminate on March 31, 2025, unless extended by the funding agency.
- No Claim for Regularization: The appointment is on a contract basis, and candidates have no right to claim regularization or permanent absorption.
- Tenure: The posts are purely temporary and will not confer any right to regularization in PGIMER/NCDC/GOI.
- Leave: The leave entitlement will follow the funding agency’s policy.
- No Accommodation: No accommodation will be provided by the Institute.
- No TA/DA: No travel allowances will be paid for attending the selection process (written test/interview).
- Posting: The selected candidates may be required to work in shifts, and night duties may be assigned in emergency situations.
- Termination: Either party can terminate the contract by giving 30 days’ notice.

Age Relaxation:
- SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates will receive age relaxation as per Government of India rules.
- Candidates with disabilities (PWD) will be granted relaxation according to government guidelines.

General Instructions:
- Eligibility: It is the responsibility of the candidate to ensure that they meet the eligibility criteria for the post they are applying for.
- Selection: Only eligible candidates will be shortlisted and invited for written tests and interviews.
